International Corporate Governance Conference 2011 Unveiled at Tsinghua

Tsinghua International Corporate Governance Conference 2011 was held at Tsinghua SEM during July 16-17, 2011. This conference was hosted and organized by Center for Corporate Governance, Tsinghua University. Professor Robert Bushman from University of North Carolina and Professor Katherine Schipper from Duke University participated in the conference as guest speakers. In addition, more than 40 scholars and professors attended the conference from all over the world.

At the conference, Professor QIAN Yingyi, Dean of Tsinghua SEM and Director of Center for Corporate Governance delivered the opening remarks. Later on, Professor Robert Bushman and Professor Katherine Schipper gave their keynote speeches respectively.

During the two-day conference, scholars from countries and regions like China, the United States, Singapore, Hong Kong, Macao and etc., reflected on current development in the field of international corporate governance with their research results, and held together heated discussions on mutually concerned topics, such as corporate financial policy, market mechanism, policy incentives, China's capital market, private enterprise's cash policy, bankruptcy and creditor incentives and etc.

Upon invitation, Professor QI Bin, Director of Research Center of China Securities Regulatory Commission made a keynote speech themed "China's Capital Market: the 12th Five-Year Plan", in which he shared with the audience the characteristics of China's economic transition and the local market culture from the perspective of policy regulation and supervision.

The next International Corporate Governance Conference was tentatively scheduled for July 2012, also planned to take place at Tsinghua University.
