The 2023 China 5G+ Industrial Internet Conference began on November 21, 2023. It was hosted by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the People's Government of Hubei Province. At the press event following the conference, Tsinghua SEM announced a new executive education project called "Intelligent Manufacturing in China+", which is committed to cultivating talents for China's intelligent manufacturing fields to power new industrialization.

LI Jizhen, vice dean of Tsinghua SEM, said that intelligent manufacturing is key to powerful manufacturing. Advanced intelligent manufacturing, propelled by the seamless integration of digitization and reality, is of great significance in strengthening the foundation of the real economy, establishing a modern industrial system, and fostering the new form of industrialization. Tsinghua University has consistently upheld its commitment to supporting China's self-reliance of high-level technologies, advancing industrial progress through deep integration of industry, academia, and research, and offering strong technological and talent support for the development of a manufacturing powerhouse.

The "China Intelligent Manufacturing+" project is led by BAI Chong-En, dean of Tsinghua SEM and Mansfield Freeman Chair Professor; LUO Jianbin, an academician at the Chinese Academy of Sciences and director of the State Key Laboratory of High-end Equipment Interface Science and Technology; and ZHANG Yaqin, an academician at the Chinese Academy of Engineering and dean of institute for AI Industry Research at Tsinghua University (AIR). Relying on the state key laboratory of Tsinghua University and other national research institutions, the project integrates the technological accumulation and academic achievements of engineering, information science, and management science, together with the industrial strength of enterprises whose industrial chains follow the national strategic needs. This integration helps to cultivate leading entrepreneurs in China's advanced manufacturing and high-end equipment industry.

The "Intelligent Manufacturing in China+" project emphasizes advanced manufacturing and high-end equipment that aligns with national strategic and industrial requirements, such as aerospace, rail transit, shipbuilding, ocean engineering, autonomous driving, AI, semiconductors, and special equipment. The project is dedicated to supporting foundational industries such as key equipment, parts, and materials, linking the industrial ecosystem, gathering industrial forces, and exploring a lifelong learning model for entrepreneurs that integrates industry and education and while fostering collaboration across industries.

LI also presented the research findings on "Digital Transformation of Manufacturing Industry Driven by the Digital Technology" at the conference. He pointed out that digital transformation is a crucial path for the transformation and advancement of the manufacturing industry. This requires collaborative efforts between the government and enterprises to enhance cooperation in digital infrastructure construction, technology research and application, and corporate digital transformation. The objective is to propel the development of the manufacturing industry towards high quality, high efficiency, and intelligence.

The theme of the 2023 China 5G+ Industrial Internet Conference is "Integrating Digitization and Reality, Vigorously Promoting New Industrialization." The conference aims to further advance the innovative development of "5G+ Industrial Internet", facilitate the digital transformation of various industries, and promote deep integration between the digital economy and the real economy. The conference was the inaugural state event in the field of "5G+ Industrial Internet", and has been held for four consecutive sessions. It has developed into a platform for policy announcements, practical exhibition, exchange and cooperation, industry promotion, and setting the development direction for the integration and innovation of 5G and the Industrial Internet.
